So I am walking to my office this morning and I see what looks like a Banksy graffiti project. I think Nahhh this is Salt Lake City, Utah. No Way does Banksy visit #SLC. Well he is here and there are other sightings of his work popping up.
These pics are taken with my iphone. I will try to get better shots tomorrow with a real camera.

UPDATE: The city of Salt Lake removed the Banksy art installation on 3rd south and West Temple. The good news is they left up the trashy blue spray painted tag that looks like ass that is actually the EYESORE. Well done guys!

I stopped by this afternoon to see it in person and while taking the attached picture, a city worked informed me that it was scheduled to be removed as it i graffiti.
I have emailed the mayor, and forwared a copy of it the Tribune and encourage all art lovers to call or email the mayors office & media outlets and ask them to preserve this piece of art, not remove it.

I just emailed the mayor. I used to live in London and they worship this guy there. His work is amazing. I love the messages he portrays in his work. It is NOT GRAFFITI!!!
Banksy is here for Sundance where he is releasing his new film “Exit Through the Gift Shop”. Interesting to see he came down to SLC. It really is a rare treat! BTW, this is graffiti. Respect the art!
look how the three yellow rats appeared. BANKSY must have came back later on
Banksy! Yeah Dude is legit! Props! I suppose you should sound the alarm for graffiti that has transcended the bowels of its own… What did you call it? Oh yeah, “trashy, ass, eyesore roots”, into the good graces of tasteful, mainstream consumer culture. Where just about any Mark with an iPhone can flik a little piece of your work and “own” it!
Although, it appears that the “city” powers that be heard the pleas for preservation and true to form… merely removed the idolatry and honored the angel! Just good business!
In the process, The Buff inadvertently salvaged a piece of Salt Lake’s own iconic infamy! SNIPE!, Aside from the spot jock and over spray Banks’ little stunt compliments well! If anything it brings a smile! Keeps the main talking! Gives the walls a nod and the know a peace!
On the flip side: It is graffiti, it’s ephemeral, it’s the soul of our shoe in your face!
BUFF IT!
His piece up City Creek has been covered over.
